As a Database Engineer – Junior-Level, you will be responsible for providing technical expertise for database design, development, implementation, information storage and retrieval, data flow, and analysis in support of critical cyber and collection systems.

What You’ll Do / Key Responsibilities

  • Database Design and Architecture: Provide technical expertise for database design, development, implementation, information storage and retrieval, data flow, and analysis.
  • Relational & Object-Oriented Development: Develop relational and/or Object-Oriented databases, database parser software, and database loading software.
  • Requirements & Architecture Planning: Project long-range requirements for database administration and design, developing a structure that fits into the overall system architecture while balancing data volumes, users, distribution, response times, and security.
  • System Lifecycle Support: Work primarily at the front end of the lifecycle—from requirements through system acceptance testing and Initial Operational Capability (IOC).
  • Query & Script Development: Translate requirements and data into usable documents by creating or recreating ad hoc queries, scripts, and macros, updating existing queries, and building complex systems using queries, tables, and cloud methodologies.
  • Systems Improvement: Assist with recommendations for, and analysis and evaluation of, systems improvements, optimization, development, and/or maintenance efforts.

Requirements & Qualifications

  • Database Familiarity: Familiarity with relational and non-relational databases to include Oracle, Postgres, Mongo, and Redis.
  • SQL Experience: Experience with SQL and associated tools (SQL Developer, etc.).
  • Requirements Support: Support the development of long and short-term requirements for database administration and design.
  • Education / Experience: Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline from an accredited college or university is required (alternatively, 5 years of DBE experience may be substituted for a bachelor’s degree).
  • Experience Level: No demonstrated experience is required (Junior-Level / Entry-Level position).
