About the Role

NuAxis Innovations is seeking an experienced Database Administrator IV for a full-time, on-site role in Albuquerque, NM. You will provide advanced database administration and operational support for enterprise database systems supporting the Bureau of Indian Affairs (BIA), ensuring mission-critical availability, security, and performance.

What You’ll Do / Key Responsibilities

  • Administer and maintain enterprise relational database systems including PostgreSQL, Oracle, and Microsoft SQL Server.
  • Continuously monitor database health, availability, resource utilization, and performance metrics.
  • Perform advanced database performance tuning, indexing, and SQL query optimization.
  • Manage routine backup and recovery operations and oversee disaster recovery readiness.
  • Implement database security controls, user access management, auditing, and encryption.
  • Apply database software patches, execute version upgrades, and assist with data migrations.
  • Troubleshoot operational bottlenecks and provide tier-3 support to application teams.
  • Maintain technical documentation, configuration baselines, and standard operating procedures (SOPs).

Requirements & Qualifications

  • Associate degree in a relevant discipline (or equivalent experience).
  • 4+ years of dedicated database administration experience across enterprise RDBMS platforms.
  • Strong hands-on experience administering PostgreSQL, Oracle, or SQL Server.
  • Proven track record with SQL query tuning, index optimization, and performance troubleshooting.
  • Thorough understanding of enterprise backup/recovery methods and database security practices.

Preferred / Bonus Qualifications

  • Prior experience working within federal agency or regulated environments.
  • Hands-on scripting experience in PL/SQL, T-SQL, or automation scripts.
  • Familiarity with high-availability configurations and failover clustering.
