About the Role

Abile Group has an opening for a PostgreSQL Database Architect on a 10-year contract providing User Facing and Data Center Services supporting an Intelligence Community customer. The team works together to support innovative design, engineering, procurement, implementation, operations, sustainment, and disposal of user-facing and data center information technology (IT) services across multiple networks and security domains to support the IC mission.

What You’ll Do / Key Responsibilities

  • High Availability & Performance Tuning: Implement and administer PostgreSQL high-availability solutions, optimize database performance, and advise on query optimization and performance tuning.
  • Backups & Disaster Recovery: Manage database backup, restore, migration, and snapshot technologies and strategies.
  • Monitoring & Alerting: Monitor, create, and manage PostgreSQL server agent alerts and maintain database integrity and security.
  • Upgrades & Migrations: Plan and execute database upgrades, patching, and cross-platform migrations involving PostgreSQL, Oracle, and MySQL.
  • Access Control & Compliance: Configure role-based access control (RBAC), set up administrator and service accounts, and ensure compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Architecture & Schema Design: Collaborate with developers on schema design, table structures for transactional and warehouse data, and stored procedures.
  • Infrastructure Maintenance: Manage the functionality and efficiency of database server environments running on one or more operating systems and maintain technical documentation for configurations and procedures.

Requirements & Qualifications

  • Security Clearance: Active TS/SCI clearance with the ability to obtain a CI Polygraph.
  • Experience: 5+ years of related database analysis and/or database administration experience.
  • Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or a related technical discipline (or equivalent combination of education, technical certifications/training, or work experience).
  • Core Database Expertise: Demonstrated hands-on PostgreSQL administration and tuning experience.
  • Migration Skills: Proven migration experience across PostgreSQL, Oracle, and MySQL.

Preferred / Bonus Qualifications

  • Certifications: CompTIA Security+ (or equivalent DoD 8570 certification).
  • Oracle Skills: Practical hands-on Oracle database administration experience.
