About the Role

The Google Cloud Consulting Professional Services team guides customers through critical moments in their cloud journey to help businesses thrive. The Agentic Data Cloud Database Engineer guides enterprise customers through designing, migrating, and optimizing intelligent, multi-model database infrastructure built for the agentic era. In this role, you will architect scalable, always-on transactional databases that serve as the contextual brain and real-time execution engine for AI agents.

What You’ll Do / Key Responsibilities

  • Design and manage unified, multi-model database solutions across relational, key-value, graph, and vector search engines.
  • Deploy MCP servers to expose databases as secure, standardized interfaces for AI agents.
  • Lead complex database modernizations and source-to-destination transfers using tools like Database Migration Service (DMS).
  • Shift database SRE to proactive AI-driven management, utilizing database centers and observability agents to consume real-time telemetry and perform root-cause remediation.
  • Implement QueryData APIs and database contexts to build conversational analytics translating natural language into SQL.
  • Establish database security protocols, encryption, and access control policies (IAM) aligned with industry regulations and cloud best practices.

Requirements & Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 8 years of experience with Google Cloud Databases (including AlloyDB and Cloud SQL) and relational database engines such as PostgreSQL, Oracle, and SQL Server.
  • Proven experience with performance optimization and HA/DR (execution plan diagnosis, wait states, indexing, connection pooling, replication, automated failover, and point-in-time recovery).
  • Experience in application development using Java, Python, build systems, ORMs (e.g., Hibernate), and JDBC.
  • Experience with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform) and AI frameworks (LangChain, LangGraph).

Preferred / Bonus Qualifications

  • Professional Cloud Database Engineer certification.
  • Master’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Business, or related field.
  • Experience managing hybrid/multi-cloud data environments or executing large-scale migrations to Google Cloud.
  • Knowledge of AI-native database design combining RDBMS with vector and graph technologies and modern streaming pipelines.
