About the Role

Applied Research Solutions (ARS) has an opportunity for a Database Administrator Subject Matter Expert (SME) supporting US Strategic Command (USSTRATCOM) at Offutt AFB, NE. In this full-time role within a classified program environment, you will manage, maintain, support, and optimize enterprise database environments across Oracle Database and PostgreSQL within virtualized and cloud infrastructures, ensuring strict DoD information assurance compliance.

What You’ll Do / Key Responsibilities

  • Manage, maintain, support, and optimize database systems across three client-server systems in a classified environment.
  • Install, configure, patch, and maintain enterprise RDBMS platforms, primarily Oracle Database and Postgres, in virtualized and cloud environments.
  • Monitor database health, troubleshoot complex technical issues, manage indexes, and optimize SQL queries to maximize performance and prevent downtime.
  • Implement DoD STIGs, database auditing, and security patching to maintain strict information assurance standards.
  • Design, test, and execute automated backup, recovery, and failover strategies ensuring continuous operations for mission systems.
  • Manage user access, permissions, and security privileges in compliance with DoD regulations.
  • Collaborate with systems engineers to configure secure gateways, orchestrate ETL pipelines, and maintain schema architectures.
  • Serve as the database technical lead during security incident responses.
  • Author operational documentation, runbooks, and architectural diagrams for Secret, Top Secret, and JWICS networks.

Requirements & Qualifications

  • U.S. Citizenship with an active Top Secret clearance eligible for Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI).
  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant technical discipline.
  • Minimum of 15 years of relevant experience, with at least 5 years in DoD environments.
  • Certified Database Administrator (Oracle Certified Professional – OCP or higher).
  • DoD 8140/8570 Information Assurance Technician (IAT) Level II certification (Security+, GSEC, etc.).
  • Extensive Linux operational knowledge and administrative experience.
  • Strong expertise with database query languages (SQL) and enterprise DBA best practices.
  • Deep knowledge of DoDD 8500.1, DoDD 8520.1, and Risk Management Framework (RMF) standards.
