About the Role

Parsons is seeking an experienced Database Administrator / IT Specialist to join our Mission Solutions team in Huntsville, AL. In this role, you will administer and optimize enterprise database environments and supporting infrastructure, empowering defense intelligence missions to securely store, maintain, and access critical data.

What You’ll Do / Key Responsibilities

  • Administer, maintain, and optimize enterprise database systems, including PostgreSQL, Oracle, and Microsoft SQL Server.
  • Install, configure, upgrade, and patch database hardware, software, and underlying operating systems.
  • Monitor database and server performance, implement tuning improvements, and troubleshoot complex operational issues.
  • Ensure rigorous database security, backup schedules, and disaster recovery procedures are fully implemented and verified.
  • Collaborate with software engineering and analytics teams to support schema design and data access requirements.
  • Manage supporting IT infrastructure, including virtualization platforms (VMware, Nutanix), server administration, and networking.

Requirements & Qualifications

  • Active Top Secret clearance with eligibility for TS/SCI and counterintelligence polygraph.
  • Bachelor’s degree in CS, IT, or related field with 17+ years of experience, or Master’s degree with 12+ years of experience.
  • CompTIA Security+ certification.
  • Extensive hands-on experience in enterprise database administration across PostgreSQL, Oracle, and Microsoft SQL Server.
  • Strong Linux and Windows server administration background.

Preferred / Bonus Qualifications

  • Experience with Nutanix VM clusters and cloud infrastructure.
  • Experience applying DoD Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs) to database engines.
  • Scripting and automation proficiency using PowerShell, Bash, or Python.
