About the Role

LexisNexis Risk Solutions is seeking an experienced Senior DBA II to join the Database Administration team. In this role, you will provide enterprise-wide support for mission-critical database platforms, ensuring high availability, performance, security, and operational stability across large-scale production environments.

What You’ll Do / Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and optimize MySQL databases in large-scale production environments.
  • Design and support highly available, disaster recovery, and multi-region database architectures.
  • Perform database upgrades, patching, backup/recovery, performance tuning, and capacity planning.
  • Build automation and Infrastructure-as-Code solutions using Terraform and scripting tools.
  • Support cloud-hosted databases in Azure and AWS environments.
  • Implement monitoring, observability, incident response, and root cause analysis processes.
  • Partner with engineering teams to improve database reliability, CI/CD, and cloud modernization initiatives.
  • Participate in on-call rotations and production support.

Requirements & Qualifications

  • Experience as a MySQL DBA, Database Engineer, or Reliability Engineer.
  • Deep expertise in MySQL replication, HA/DR architectures, backup/recovery, security, and performance tuning.
  • Experience supporting cloud database platforms in Azure and/or AWS environments.
  • Strong automation skills using Python, Bash, Ansible, Terraform, or similar tools.
  • Experience with GitHub Actions, CI/CD pipelines, and DevOps practices.
  • Knowledge of observability tools such as Grafana, Datadog, ELK, Azure Monitor, or CloudWatch.
  • Strong troubleshooting, communication, and problem-solving skills.

Preferred / Bonus Qualifications

  • Experience with PostgreSQL, SQL Server, MongoDB, or Oracle.
  • Knowledge of SRE principles, including SLIs, SLOs, incident management, and post-mortems.
  • Experience with cloud modernization, platform engineering, and self-service automation.
  • Familiarity with AI-assisted operations and engineering productivity tools.
