About the Role

ClickUp is seeking a Senior Database Reliability Engineer to join its Database Operations team. In this fully remote role, you will be responsible for the performance, integrity, security, and availability of large-scale production PostgreSQL databases running on Linux across AWS infrastructure.

What You’ll Do / Key Responsibilities

  • Administer, monitor, and maintain high-volume production PostgreSQL instances (250GB+, RDS, Aurora, EC2).
  • Execute proactive database maintenance including patching, version upgrades, autovacuum tuning, reindexing, and statistics management.
  • Develop, maintain, and regularly test backup, restore, and disaster recovery (DR) procedures.
  • Manage database user access, roles, authentication, and security policies.
  • Conduct capacity planning, storage optimization, and growth forecasting.
  • Troubleshoot complex issues including performance bottlenecks, locking/contention, and failed jobs.
  • Assist engineering teams with query tuning, schema migrations, and zero-downtime release deployments.
  • Participate in an on-call rotation to maintain database reliability and uptime.

Requirements & Qualifications

  • 7+ years of experience as a senior DBA or database reliability engineer.
  • Deep hands-on experience administering production PostgreSQL (backups, recovery, performance tuning, vacuuming).
  • Proven track record managing large-scale, high-traffic database environments in Linux and AWS (RDS, Aurora, EC2, S3).
  • Strong proficiency in SQL and scripting languages (Bash and Python).
  • Solid understanding of database security, role-based access control, and observability tools.
