About the Role

Open Systems Technologies Corporation is seeking a Postgres Subject Matter Expert (SME) to join our team in Fort Belvoir, VA. In this role, you will leverage your in-depth knowledge and expertise in all aspects of PostgreSQL database administration and management to ensure the efficiency, security, and optimization of our enterprise database systems supporting critical government initiatives.

What You’ll Work On / Key Responsibilities

  • Database Architecture & Deployment: Design, deploy, and maintain high-performance PostgreSQL database environments.
  • Performance Tuning & Troubleshooting: Troubleshoot and resolve complex database performance issues to ensure optimal system reliability.
  • Security & Integrity: Implement robust database security best practices and ensure strict data integrity across environments.
  • Query Optimization: Develop and optimize SQL queries and stored procedures for maximum efficiency.
  • Backup & Recovery: Manage database backups and execute disaster recovery procedures.
  • Collaboration: Partner with cross-functional technical teams to design and implement scalable enterprise database solutions.

Requirements & Qualifications

  • Citizenship & Clearance: Must be a US Citizen with an Active Secret Clearance.
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related technical field.
  • Certifications: Possession of a Security+ or equivalent certification is required.
  • Experience: Proven professional experience as a PostgreSQL database administrator or SME.
  • Technical Skills: Advanced knowledge of Postgres database administration, including configuration, tuning, monitoring, and proficiency in SQL and PL/pgSQL programming.
  • Soft Skills: Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and collaboration abilities.

Preferred / Bonus Qualifications

  • Relevant PostgreSQL certifications (e.g., PostgreSQL Certified Professional) are a strong plus.
