About the Role

CoverMyMeds is hiring a Lead Database Engineer to direct enterprise PostgreSQL and SQL Server platforms across cloud and on-premises environments. You will drive reliability, automation, and platform roadmaps across mission-critical systems.

What You’ll Do / Key Responsibilities

  • Lead design, operation, and evolution of enterprise PostgreSQL and Azure SQL platforms.
  • Drive cloud database migrations including architectural planning, testing, and cutover.
  • Formulate operational standards, reference architectures, runbooks, and roadmaps.
  • Architect resilient, high-availability solutions for disaster recovery and failover.
  • Implement Infrastructure-as-Code and Database-as-Code via Terraform and Liquibase.
  • Optimize database performance through tuning, telemetry, and capacity planning.
  • Act as senior escalation lead for production incident analysis and resolution.
  • Enforce security controls, compliance mandates, and access governance policies.
  • Mentor DBAs and engineers while guiding technical standards across teams.

Requirements & Qualifications

  • 10+ years of database engineering or administration experience.
  • 5+ years in senior or lead database administration roles.
  • 5+ years operating databases in public clouds (Azure preferred).
  • Expert knowledge of PostgreSQL administration, tuning, and replication.
  • Proven enterprise experience administering SQL Server environments.
  • Experience supporting high-availability mission-critical systems.
  • Demonstrated track record leading large database initiatives.

Preferred / Bonus Qualifications

  • Familiarity with Azure Flexible Server, Azure SQL, and Azure Monitor.
  • Hands-on automation with Terraform, Liquibase, and CI/CD tools.
  • Scripting skills in PowerShell, Python, or Bash.
  • Exposure to Kubernetes, containers, and data movement tools (SSIS/CDC).
  • Experience in HIPAA, HITRUST, or regulated healthcare settings.
  • Industry certifications in Azure, PostgreSQL, or SQL Server.
