About the Role

Trumid is a dynamic fintech revolutionizing the landscape of fixed income trading. This role owns data resilience and continuity across our production database systems, ensuring that data-layer failure modes—storage contention, replica lag, region loss—are identified and retired in drills rather than production. You will join the database side of our Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) team, working alongside deep PostgreSQL expertise to maintain and scale a high-throughput AWS RDS fleet backing a live trading venue.

What You’ll Do / Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure Database Durability & Performance: Own the durability, recoverability, and performance of the PostgreSQL / AWS RDS fleet across every environment, including replication, failover, backup and restore, and storage behavior under load.
  • Prove Recovery & DR Readiness: Maintain restore-tested coverage for every production database, run timed failover drills, and measure RPO/RTO per tier.
  • Manage Data Lifecycle & Security: Oversee retention and cleanup policies, data-layer access control, encryption posture, and data classification.
  • Investigate Engine Performance: Hunt performance pathologies at the engine level, including lock contention, WAL throughput, replica lag, bloat, index hygiene, and write amplification.
  • Build Database Observability & Tooling: Extend database observability using Prometheus and Grafana, and build AI-assisted operations tooling (health-check skills, automated migration PR review).

Requirements & Qualifications

  • 5+ years running production PostgreSQL at scale (ideally on AWS RDS or Aurora), with deep knowledge of internals including replication, WAL mechanics, MVCC, vacuum behavior, and query performance tuning.
  • Proven DR & Lifecycle Ownership: Demonstrated experience managing full data lifecycles (backup and restore, retention, access control) and concrete disaster recovery (DR) design and execution.
  • Infrastructure & Automation Skills: Hands-on experience with Infrastructure-as-Code (Terraform), scripting (Python, Bash, SQL), Linux, and cloud storage/IOPS characteristics.
  • SRE Mindset: Familiarity with SLOs, blameless postmortems, and clear technical writing for runbooks and architectural decision records.

Preferred / Bonus Qualifications (if applicable)

  • Experience with data warehousing and pipelines (BigQuery, AlloyDB, Kafka).
  • Background in regulated fintech environments and compliance frameworks.
  • Exposure to Kubernetes and observability stacks (Prometheus, Grafana, ELK).
  • Interest in developing AI-assisted operations tooling.
