About the Role

At Tiger Data, formerly Timescale, we empower developers and businesses with the fastest PostgreSQL platform designed for transactional, analytical, and agentic workloads. We are looking for experienced engineers to help us build our Cloud database experience and ensure operational excellence on our database platform. You will work with a close-knit team, handling performance and operational issues on our Platform, as well as designing and developing features that elevate our Cloud database experience.

What You’ll Do / Key Responsibilities

  • Cloud Feature Design: Designing and implementing database-related Cloud features, working across many layers of the stack to ensure a seamless Postgres experience.
  • Operational Excellence: Ensuring operational excellence, performance, and observability for our fleet of Postgres / Timescale instances.
  • Performance Troubleshooting: Diving deep into complex database performance issues faced by our Cloud customers.

Requirements & Qualifications

  • Stateful Workloads: Extensive experience running and orchestrating dynamic stateful Postgres workloads at scale on Kubernetes.
  • Core Technologies: Deep knowledge of Golang, Linux, and infrastructure tooling. Contributions to the Postgres ecosystem—either core Postgres or open source tooling around it—are a major plus.
  • Internal Systems: Proven track record of building internal systems, services, and tools for managing Postgres at scale.
  • Database Tuning: Deep experience with analyzing database performance, tuning Postgres parameters, and optimizing Postgres workloads.

Preferred / Bonus Qualifications (if applicable)

  • Contributions to core PostgreSQL or open-source tooling around the PostgreSQL ecosystem.
  • Enthusiasm for learning our broader tech stack including AWS, Go, Docker, Python, and Timescale features like Hypertables, Hypercore, and vector search.
