About the Role

Fruition Executive Search is seeking an experienced Database Engineer to join a mission-critical, geographically distributed system supporting the Intelligence Community. This role demands a highly skilled professional capable of designing, implementing, and maintaining complex data architectures that meet stringent security, performance, and interface requirements. As a key member of the technical team, you will manage both relational and non-relational data systems, ensuring data integrity, availability, and security to support critical national security objectives.

What You’ll Do / Key Responsibilities

  • Architecture & Design: Design, build, and document relational and non-relational data architectures, ensuring compliance with strict operational and security requirements.
  • Replication & High Availability: Manage data movement at scale, including replication across distributed nodes, failover capabilities, high availability, and concurrent access management.
  • Performance Optimization: Optimize database performance through proactive issue investigation, performance tuning, and capacity planning.
  • Backup & Recovery: Implement and oversee robust backup and recovery procedures to safeguard data integrity and availability.
  • Schema & Data Modeling: Translate schema requirements and raw data into usable structures through ad hoc queries, scripting, and macros.
  • System Analysis: Conduct requirements analysis, risk assessments, and evaluate system-level solutions to ensure optimal performance and security.
  • Database Strategy: Define and manage short-term and long-term database requirements for ongoing administration and system design.
  • Agile Collaboration: Collaborate actively within an Agile environment, participating in Program Increment Planning and working closely with systems, software, test, and information assurance engineers.

Requirements & Qualifications

  • Experience: Minimum of 10+ years of experience as a Database Administrator or Database Engineer, particularly within high-stakes, large-scale programs (or 4 additional years of DBA experience in lieu of a degree).
  • Relational Databases: Strong, demonstrable foundation in PostgreSQL administration and performance tuning.
  • NoSQL Technologies: Practical hands-on experience working with MongoDB and Cassandra.
  • Programming: Baseline proficiency in Java programming for development tasks and technical communication.
  • Security Clearance: Mandatory active TS/SCI clearance with Full Scope Polygraph (conducted within the past six years) and no Counterintelligence Concerns (CCAs).
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in a relevant technical field or equivalent operational experience.

Preferred / Bonus Qualifications

  • Experience working within SAFe or other scaled Agile methodologies.
