About the Role

Avid Technology Professionals is seeking a Senior Database Engineer (Database Engineer 3) to support programs and contracts of significant scope, type, and complexity. The candidate will work closely with development teams, microservices, and database systems to build and maintain high-performing data architectures.

What You’ll Do / Key Responsibilities

  • Architect, implement, and maintain database solutions utilizing MariaDB and MongoDB.
  • Build and support RESTful API endpoints and microservices using Python frameworks such as Django or Flask.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams in an Agile development environment.
  • Optimize database performance, schema design, and service integration.

Requirements & Qualifications

  • Ten (10) years of experience as a Database Engineer (DBE) in programs and contracts of similar scope, type, and complexity.
  • Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline from an accredited college or university (Five (5) years of additional DBE experience may be substituted for a bachelor’s degree).
  • Proven hands-on experience using MariaDB or MongoDB.
  • Strong proficiency in Python development.
  • Experience with web frameworks such as Django or Flask and building REST endpoints for microservices.

Preferred / Bonus Qualifications

  • Cloud experience with AWS, C2S, or other cloud platforms.
  • Containerization experience with Docker.
  • Experience with API documentation tools such as Swagger.
  • Familiarity with JSON and/or XML serialization.
  • Proficiency with Git version control, Jira, Confluence, and Agile workflows.
  • Experience with modern IDEs such as Visual Studio Code.
