About the Role

Susquehanna is seeking a PostgreSQL Database Administrator to join our team! This role offers the opportunity to leverage your current knowledge of relational database expertise to ensure stability and scalability of our enterprise database platform. You will focus on installing, configuring, and updating our growing environment of instances while ensuring that current and future instances are optimized to meet the needs of our evolving business.

What You’ll Do / Key Responsibilities

  • Platform Optimization: Designing and optimizing systems that process massive amounts of data, ensuring high performance and stability across high transaction and high availability financial trading environments.
  • Environment Management: Installing, configuring, and updating a growing environment of PostgreSQL and MariaDB database instances.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partnering closely with fellow database administrators, development, and engineering teams to share ideas and solutions that expand enterprise database capabilities.
  • Automation & Scripting: Developing and improving automation workflows by further developing Linux shell scripting skills.
  • Continuous Learning: Engaging with a growth mindset to continuously increase technical database skills and leverage AI tools to streamline daily tasks and workflows.

Requirements & Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related technical discipline required.
  • 5+ years of experience with PostgreSQL required.
  • 2+ years of experience with MariaDB required.
  • Strong relational database knowledge, troubleshooting, and performance tuning required.
  • Thorough understanding of the Linux operating system and Linux shell scripting required.
  • Thorough understanding of database backup and recovery concepts required.

Preferred / Bonus Qualifications

  • Experience with enterprise monitoring tools such as Percona.
  • Knowledge of high availability architectures.
  • Experience leveraging AI tools to streamline daily tasks and workflows.
