About the Role

Okta is building Digital Workers, a new suite of autonomous agents for identity operations and security. This role involves building the backend and AWS platform that keeps these workers running around the clock, shaping a product for over 20,000 customers.

What You’ll Do / Key Responsibilities

  • Build Python FastAPI services and reusable connectors for Okta, AWS, ServiceNow, and enterprise applications.
  • Implement durable execution using Step Functions, SQS, and EventBridge.
  • Manage PostgreSQL schemas, indexes, query performance, and pgvector retrieval.
  • Implement scoped write services, kill switches, audit retention, and backup recovery.
  • Add an analytics pipeline, evaluating ClickHouse and BigQuery for usage records and reconciliation.

Requirements & Qualifications

  • Experience building and operating production backend or distributed systems, with strong coding skills in Python.
  • Hands-on AWS experience with APIs, queues, containers, networking, IAM, and databases.
  • Strong SQL and data modeling skills, with experience diagnosing database performance and asynchronous system failures.
  • Experience with infrastructure as code, deployment automation, observability, and production incident response.
  • Senior level expectation: Own a backend or platform component, including deployment, tests, and production operation.

Preferred / Bonus Qualifications (if applicable)

  • Experience with ClickHouse or comparable analytics systems (BigQuery).
  • Multi-tenant SaaS, OAuth, OIDC, SAML, or enterprise connector development.
  • Deploying agent frameworks (e.g., Claude Agent SDK, LangGraph).
