Job Description

Company: PrizePicks
Location: Atlanta, GA or Remote (U.S.)
Workplace Type: Remote
Employment Type: Full-time
Pay / Compensation: $200,000 to $220,000

About the Role

At PrizePicks, we are the fastest-growing sports company in North America, as recognized by Inc. 5000. As our Infrastructure and Database Reliability functions scale to support live, high-traffic events year-round, we are splitting the organization into two focused disciplines. We are seeking a Database Reliability Engineering Manager to own cloud database infrastructure, data lifecycle and management strategy, and live-event operational readiness while helping develop the next generation of technical leaders.

What You’ll Do / Key Responsibilities

  • Cloud Database Infrastructure: Own cloud database infrastructure including AlloyDB, Redis, Kafka, capacity planning, and database vendor management, including commitment/CUD strategy and spend accountability.
  • Identity & Access Modernization: Support our identity and access modernization with an inclusive, workflow-aware migration to a modern identity platform, appropriate limits on high-risk access, and break-glass mechanisms.
  • Data Lifecycle & Strategy: Build a set of data services that enables data aging, archiving, and retention over a multi-year cycle.
  • Observability Framework: Contribute to creating a database observability framework with logging, metrics, and alerting that produces clear, actionable signals instead of noise.
  • High-Availability Operations: Lead high-availability operations for peak-traffic events (Super Bowl, season kickoffs) including on-call design, war-room readiness, staffing plans, and vendor escalation coordination.
  • Business Continuity & Disaster Recovery: Own the data side of our business continuity and disaster recovery planning and execution.
  • Security & Compliance: Maintain database security and compliance including vulnerability remediation, edge security, access controls, and audit support.
  • Team Leadership & Growth: Build and grow the team, identify and develop technical leads, delegate real ownership, and mentor team members.

Requirements & Qualifications

  • 5+ years managing database, DevOps, or SRE teams, ideally for consumer products with real-time, high-concurrency, or seasonal/event-driven traffic patterns.
  • Deep hands-on background in cloud infrastructure (GCP strongly preferred; AWS or similar also relevant), relational and non-relational databases (AlloyDB, PostgreSQL, Redis, MongoDB), and infrastructure-as-code (Crossplane, Cuelang, Terraform, Ansible, or similar).
  • Experience running identity/access management programs, modern observability/monitoring stacks, and incident management practices under pressure.
  • Proven track record of managing cloud cost, vendor relationships, and budget ownership.
  • Solid grounding in security best practices and compliance requirements for fast-moving consumer platforms.
  • Demonstrated ability to mentor technical leads and delegate effectively.
  • Excellent communication skills and judgment to flag risks early.

Preferred / Bonus Qualifications (if applicable)

  • Experience in a technology startup environment.
  • Relevant DevOps, Cloud, or SRE certifications.

Benefits & Perks (if applicable)

  • Company-subsidized medical, dental, & vision plans
  • 401(k) plan with company match
  • Annual bonus
  • Flexible PTO (2 weeks strongly encouraged)
  • Generous paid leave programs including 16-week paid parental leave and disability benefits
  • Workplace flexibility and modern work schedules
  • Company-wide in-person events and team outings
  • Lifestyle enhancement program
  • Company equipment provided (Windows & Mac options)
  • Annual performance reviews with growth opportunities
