Pay / Compensation: $125,000 – $135,000 annually

About the Role

Shield Consulting Solutions, Inc. is seeking a Jr. Database Engineer to join them in Linthicum, MD. As part of the Secure the Enterprise initiative, you will help develop capabilities to shift from manual system security evaluation to a new model emphasizing automation, continuous monitoring, and network data gathering. (Note: Active TS/SCI w/Polygraph clearance is required.)

What You’ll Do / Key Responsibilities

  • Database Architecture & Design: Provide technical expertise for database design, development, implementation, and information storage and retrieval.
  • Structure Maintenance: Develop and maintain database structures to fit into the overall architecture of the system.
  • Workflow Automation: Create new workflows to take over existing processes, handle break/fix requests, and implement updates.
  • Software Development: Lead the development of database structures, database parser software, and database loading software.
  • API Integration: Support the development and testing of Python-based ReST endpoints, microservices, and data model management capabilities utilizing Django and Flask frameworks.

Requirements & Qualifications

  • Clearance: Active TS/SCI w/Polygraph clearance is strictly required.
  • Experience: 5 years of applicable professional experience in database engineering (an additional 5 years of experience may be substituted for a degree).
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related discipline.
  • Database Skills: Experience using MongoDB or MariaDB, including deployment, management, debugging of optimization issues, and scaling.

Preferred / Bonus Qualifications (if applicable)

  • Proficiency in Python, Django, or Flask.
  • ReST Endpoint Development and Micro-Service Model experience.
  • Familiarity with AWS, C2S, or other cloud environments.
  • Experience with Docker, Git version control, and Jira/Confluence.
  • Background working in an Agile environment.
