About the Role

Nyla Technology Solutions is seeking a skilled Database Engineer to help transition legacy, manual security evaluation processes to an automated, continuous monitoring and assessment model. In this role, you will take ownership of database design, development, and information storage across the entire project lifecycle, building new data workflows and supporting Python-based microservices.

What You’ll Do / Key Responsibilities

  • Database Engineering & Design: Take ownership of database design, structure maintenance, schema optimization, and information storage/retrieval across the project lifecycle.
  • Workflow Automation: Analyze existing manual processes and engineer automated database workflows to replace legacy systems.
  • Tooling & Pipeline Development: Lead the development of custom database parser software, automated loading scripts, and data ingestion pipelines.
  • Microservices & API Support: Support Python-based microservices and RESTful endpoints utilizing Django or Flask frameworks to feed structured JSON data directly to modern UI front ends.

Requirements & Qualifications

  • Active Security Clearance: Active security clearance at the TS/SCI polygraph level is strictly required.
  • Database & Datastore Experience: 5+ to 10+ years of professional experience working with relational and NoSQL databases, specifically including MariaDB, PostgreSQL, and MongoDB.
  • Core Engineering Skills: Strong, hands-on experience in database design, schema optimization, and custom database parser software development.
  • Programming & Web Frameworks: Proficiency in Python development using Django or Flask for building RESTful APIs and microservices.
  • Education / Experience Equivalency: Bachelor’s Degree in Data Analytics, Intelligence Studies, Computer Science, Finance/Economics, plus 5+ years of specialized data analytics experience; OR High School Diploma / GED plus 10+ years of hands-on intelligence analysis and data discovery experience.

Preferred / Bonus Qualifications (if applicable)

  • Familiarity with automated security authorization, continuous monitoring, and security evaluation frameworks.
  • Awareness of how backend REST microservices interface with modern JavaScript UI frameworks.
  • Experience working within an Agile development lifecycle using tracking tools like Jira and Confluence.
