About the Role

Tata Consultancy Services is seeking a Senior Database Reliability Engineer (DBRE) to join their team in Skokie, IL. In this role, you will design, operate, and troubleshoot production database environments, working closely with cloud infrastructure, managed data services, and distributed data systems.

What You’ll Do / Key Responsibilities

  • Production Database Operations: Design, operate, and troubleshoot PostgreSQL in production environments.
  • Cross-Layer Management: Manage production database and distributed data systems across application, database, operating system, storage, and network layers.
  • Infrastructure Automation: Automate infrastructure and database operations using tools such as Terraform, Ansible, Chef, or Puppet.
  • Systems Engineering: Perform Linux systems engineering, including performance tuning, memory management, I/O tuning, configuration, security, and networking.
  • Polyglot Data Support: Work within a polyglot production data environment incorporating non-PostgreSQL systems such as Kafka/MSK, ClickHouse, Redis, MySQL, Cassandra, or Elasticsearch.

Requirements & Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience designing, operating, and troubleshooting PostgreSQL in production environments, along with cloud infrastructure and managed data services (including PostgreSQL on Kubernetes, Amazon RDS, and AWS).
  • 5+ years of experience managing production database or distributed data systems across application, database, operating system, storage, and network layers.
  • 3+ years of experience in Linux systems engineering and automating infrastructure or database operations using Terraform, Ansible, Chef, or Puppet.
  • 2+ years of experience using at least one scripting or programming language such as Python, Bash, Go, Ruby, or Perl for automation and operational tooling.
  • Citizenship/Work Authorization: Must possess the ability to obtain a US Security Clearance, requiring U.S. Citizenship, U.S. Permanent Residency (Green Card), Political Asylee, or Refugee status.
