About the Role

Tata Consultancy Services is seeking a Senior Database Reliability Engineer (DBRE) to join their team in San Jose, CA. In this role, you will be responsible for designing, operating, and troubleshooting production database systems, ensuring high availability, performance, and scalability across cloud and on-premise infrastructure.

What You’ll Do / Key Responsibilities

• Design and Operate: Manage production database and distributed data systems across application, database, operating system, storage, and network layers.
• Troubleshoot and Tune: Diagnose and resolve complex production issues involving PostgreSQL performance, memory management, I/O tuning, configuration, and security.
• Automate Operations: Build automation and operational tooling using scripting languages such as Python, Bash, Go, Ruby, or Perl, and infrastructure tools like Terraform and Ansible.
• Manage Cloud Infrastructure: Work with managed data services and cloud environments, including PostgreSQL on Kubernetes, Amazon RDS, and AWS.

Requirements & Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience designing, operating, and troubleshooting PostgreSQL in production environments.
• 5+ years of experience managing production database or distributed data systems across application, database, OS, storage, and network layers.
• 3+ years of experience in Linux systems engineering (performance tuning, memory management, I/O tuning, security, and networking) and automating infrastructure with Terraform, Ansible, Chef, or Puppet.
• 2+ years of experience using at least one scripting or programming language such as Python, Bash, Go, Ruby, or Perl.
• Experience working in a polyglot production data environment, including at least one non-PostgreSQL system such as Kafka/MSK, ClickHouse, Redis, MySQL, Cassandra, or Elasticsearch.
• Ability to obtain a US Security Clearance (must be a U.S. Citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident / Green Card Holder, Political Asylee, or Refugee).

Preferred / Bonus Qualifications (if applicable)

• Experience with service discovery and secrets management in cloud-native environments.
