About the Role

Premier Staffing Partners is seeking an experienced Senior Database Administrator – AWS PostgreSQL to support and optimize an enterprise-scale AWS PostgreSQL environment. This role focuses on administration, automation, performance tuning, security, reliability, and migrations for Amazon RDS for PostgreSQL and Amazon Aurora PostgreSQL databases. Candidates residing in Knoxville, TN or surrounding areas are highly preferred.

What You’ll Do / Key Responsibilities

  • Administer and support enterprise Amazon RDS for PostgreSQL and Amazon Aurora PostgreSQL databases.
  • Monitor, diagnose, and optimize database performance, availability, and reliability.
  • Develop, analyze, and tune complex SQL queries and database execution plans.
  • Build and maintain database Infrastructure as Code using Terraform.
  • Automate database administration, monitoring, deployment, and operational workflows.
  • Implement database change management and support scheduled production releases.
  • Lead high-availability, backup, point-in-time recovery, and disaster recovery initiatives.
  • Plan and execute database migrations between AWS platforms, as well as legacy migrations from SQL Server and IBM DB2 to PostgreSQL.
  • Partner with engineering, data, and infrastructure teams to design resilient database architectures.
  • Serve as the technical SME for PostgreSQL and AWS database operations while mentoring team members.

Requirements & Qualifications

  • Strong hands-on experience administering PostgreSQL in enterprise production environments.
  • Extensive experience with AWS database technologies, specifically Amazon RDS for PostgreSQL and Amazon Aurora PostgreSQL.
  • Experience administering and/or migrating Microsoft SQL Server databases.
  • Strong SQL query development, troubleshooting, and performance-tuning skills.
  • Practical experience utilizing Terraform and Infrastructure as Code practices.
  • Solid background in database migrations, upgrades, change management, and production operations.
  • Strong command of database security, backup/recovery, high availability, and disaster recovery.

Preferred / Bonus Qualifications

  • Experience migrating SQL Server databases directly to PostgreSQL.
  • Experience with IBM DB2 for i / iSeries environments.
  • Hands-on experience with AWS database migration tools and cloud modernization programs.
  • Prior experience serving as a Senior DBA, technical lead, or database SME.

  • 12-Month+ W2 Contract (Eastern Time Hours).
  • Remote flexibility (Knoxville, TN area strongly preferred).
